Sting to Play NBA All-Star Game Halftime Show in Toronto
Published Jan 28, 2016An extremely famous, uni-monikered musician is set to play the halftime show at next month's NBA All-Star Game in Toronto, but it's not going to be the Raptors' rappin' brand ambassador, Drake. It was confirmed today (January 28) that former Police frontman Sting will be treating the crowd at Air Canada Centre to a mini-show.
Officials behind the February 14 All-Star Game confirmed in a press release that the Grammy-winning singer will be performing "a compilation of his most celebrated hits" during halftime. It's as yet unclear exactly what he'll be playing, but it seems like it could be a mix of both material from his days with the Police, as well as songs from his solo career.
Ahead of the game, Cirque du Soleil will perform a choreographed routine that tells "the story of a basketball dream."
While the choice of Sting over, say, Drake may seem like an odd one, the 6 God may well hit heights that Dwight Howard can't reach when he coaches Team Canada during the All-Star Celebrity Game earlier that weekend.
As previously reported, Drizzy will coach a squad including former NBA player Rick Fox and Arcade Fire's Win Butler against the rival Team USA, which is being led from the bench by comedian Kevin Hart.

So far, the starting lineups for the All-Star Game proper have been announced, with the Eastern Conference All-Stars including Raptors guard Kyle Lowry and the Cleveland Cavaliers LeBron James. The Western squad features three-point phenom Stephen Curry, veteran Laker Kobe Bryant and more.
All-Star reserves will be announced by the NBA later today.
As for Sting, it was recently revealed that he'll be teaming up with fellow rock vet Peter Gabriel for a North American tour this summer. The "Rock Paper Scissors" trek will hit Canadian venues in Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City, Calgary and Edmonton. You'll find out more info on the tour over here.
