Neil Young Is 'Back in the Barn Now' with Crazy Horse
Since Neil Young loves a good update or three, the Canadian legend has let us know his promised new album with Crazy Horse is now officially underway.

Via his ever-busy Neil Young Archives, Young popped in yesterday (June 21) to write: "Crazy Horse recording is under way. The Horse is back in the barn now, shaking off the rust."

He added: "It's been a long time since we have been together, and more than a few tears have been shed."

Young went on to explain that he and Crazy Horse are working on the album in Colorado among the mountains — and in an actual barn.

"We are so happy to be back in the barn, a barn built to replace the 1850s barn that had collapsed in exactly the same place, high in the mountains of Colorado!" he wrote. "It's an exact replica of the original, built with Ponderosa pines by Ted Moews and his great crew of artisans. It is magic inside."

Of the sessions, Young explained: "Mark Humphries is doing our monitors, continuing a near fifty year tradition. Mark notes that this is our 'new barn' to replace Plywood Analog on Broken Arrow Ranch, where we did Ragged Glory, Freedom, and other albums…These are new times, with new songs and feelings after what our world has been through and continues to face."

He also closed with the following: "This music we are making for souls. It's like fresh water on a desert. Life is going on."

While we so far have no other details about the upcoming album, it will mark the follow-up to Young's 2019 album with Crazy Horse, Colorado.

As previously reported, Young recently completed his first sci-fi novel Canary, as well as has a multitude of archival projects on the go.
