Damon Albarn Gives Update on New Album from the Good, the Bad & the Queen
Apparently the upcoming material is inspired by Brexit
Published Apr 10, 2017Gorillaz haven't even dropped their highly anticipated Humanz LP yet, but musical mastermind Damon Albarn has already hinted that he has more material in the works with one of his many other musical projects.
In an interview in the latest issue of UK magazine Q, Albarn confirmed that he's still working on a new album with the Good, the Bad & the Queen.
After explaining that Humanz is a record about a world in which a figure like Donald Trump can get elected, Albarn elaborated on the similarly politically charged motivation behind an impending the Good, the Bad & the Queen record.
"Brexit has obviously given us a wonderful starting point," Albarn revealed.
It's the first update on the Good, the Bad & the Queen material since the singer revealed that a new album was "fully written" back in 2014. Whether major changes have since been made to reflect the current political climate remains to be heard.
Of course, the supergroup brings together Albarn with the Clash bassist Paul Simonon, Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen and the Verve's Simon Tong. To date, they've only released one LP — 2007's The Good, the Bad & the Queen.
Firm details on the group's next record may still be a while away, but Gorillaz will deliver Humanz on April 28 via Parlophone.
