Aerosmith to Call It Quits with 2017 Farewell Tour
Published Jun 24, 2016After releasing 15 studio albums, five live efforts and two EPs over the course of a 45-year career, Aerosmith have announced their impending breakup.
Appearing on Howard Stern's radio show today (June 24), frontman Steven Tyler confirmed that the band will breakup following a farewell tour in 2017. Tyler is set to release a solo country album next month, titled We're All Somebody from Somewhere.
"I love this band, I really do, and I want to squash every thought that anybody might have about this … We're doing a farewell tour, but only because it's time. We've never done that," Tyler told Stern.
That said, Tyler did go on to joke about bands such as Kiss going on multiple "farewell tours," with still no end in sight.
You can listen to a bit of the interview below for yourself.
Tyler had been alluding to the idea of a farewell tour back in April, telling Rolling Stone: "Look, there's two bands that still have the original members, us and the Stones. I'm grateful for that. Whether we do a farewell tour or go into the studio and do another record, I'm just excited about it."
Aerosmith's last studio album came in 2012 with Music from Another Dimension!
