Gucci Family Accuse 'House of Gucci' of 'Stealing' Their Identity for Profit
Ridley Scott's House of Gucci is set to arrive later this year, but ahead of the film's release, the Gucci family has expressed disappointment with its filmmakers for "stealing" their identity for profit.

Heirs to the fashion entity are concerned over the contents of the film, claiming that the production company did not reach out to collaborate on the true-crime story depicted in House of Gucci, which follows Patrizia Reggiani's plot to murder her ex-husband, Maurizio Gucci.

"We are truly disappointed. I speak on behalf of the family," Maurizio Gucci's second cousin, Patrizia Gucci, told The Associated Press. "They are stealing the identity of a family to make a profit, to increase the income of the Hollywood system...Our family has an identity, privacy. We can talk about everything. But there is a borderline that cannot be crossed."

Patrizia Gucci also said she reached out to Scott's wife Giannina Facio to get a better picture of how the filmmaker intends to portray the family. Gucci says she has yet to hear back, which "only heightens the family's concerns."

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Lady Gaga and Adam Driver would star as Patrizia Reggiani and Maurizio Gucci. Ridley has also cast Al Pacino and Jared Leto as Aldo and Paolo Gucci, respectively, which Patrizia Gucci also took issue with.

"My grandfather was a very handsome man, like all the Guccis, and very tall, blue eyes and very elegant," she said. "He is being played by Al Pacino, who is not very tall already, and this photo shows him as fat, short, with sideburns, really ugly. Shameful, because he doesn't resemble him at all."

"Horrible, horrible," she said in regards to Leto's casting. "I still feel offended."

The movieĀ is currently scheduled to be released on November 24.
