Published Nov 27, 2020More than two years on from Blue J's debut EP, the Vancouver indie rock band are back with a new song from their upcoming debut album. The single is called "Sunday Night," and Exclaim! has the premiere.
With reverb-soaked guitar riffs and mid-tempo acoustic strums, the song is a timeless pop-rock tune with traces of '90s radio anthems (think "It's a Shame About Ray" by the Lemonheads or "Big Me" by Foo Fighters).
In a statement to Exclaim!, Blue J frontman Justice McLellan said, "'Sunday Night' explores the vulnerabilities of close relationships and how they can influence your emotions, no matter how stoic or logical you try to be. It touches on loving deeply in the moments when pride, disappointment and anger are present."

This is one of 10 songs that Blue J recorded at Vancouver's Afterlife Studios with returning studio collaborator John Raham. Debut album details are forthcoming.
