Published Oct 21, 2020Oscar-winning director Todd Haynes is no stranger to unique classic rock filmmaking. After all, he did handle the peculiar I'm Not There in 2007. As such, he's a fascinating choice to helm a new documentary about the Velvet Underground.
According to a press release, the film will "feature a trove of never before seen performances, studio recordings, Warhol films, and other experimental art that underscores what founding member John Cale called the band's creative ethos: 'How to be elegant and how to be brutal.'"
The film is simply called The Velvet Underground, and while it doesn't have a release date just yet, we do know that it was purchased by Apple TV+, who have secured international distribution rights.
