The Internet Is Grilling French Montana for Including Years-Old Songs on His New Album
Artists have both made albums much longer and have rereleased beloved material in an effort to boost streaming numbers, but fans of French Montana are having a laugh at his decision to put years-old material on a new full-length album.

Following his 2017 album Jungle Rules, the New York-based rapper dropped off third studio effort MONTANA today, and while the tracklist features 2019 singles like "Writing on the Wall" and "Slide," it also features much older selections.

Plenty of fans pointed out that the Kodak Black-assisted "Lockjaw" and "No Shopping" with splash brother Drake were both first released back in 2016. The latter appeared on Montana's 2016 mixtape MC4, while the former appeared on both MC4 and Wave Gods.

MONTANA also includes a more recent Drake collab in "No Stylist," which arrived in September of 2018.

"French Montana put singles that dropped during the OBAMA ADMINISTRATION on his album that dropped yesterday," one Twitter user pointed out, while another accused him of including the tracks to "[finesse] the streaming numbers with old ass music."

Others praised Montana's "elite stat padding," admitting that the re-upped singles wouldn't stop them from taking in the 20-track release. However, the prevailing sentiment appears to be that it's "one of the strangest and thirstiest moves" in streaming releases this year.

In the lead-up to MONTANA's release, French Montana was hospitalized in late November after suffering effects of severe exhaustion and dehydration. TMZ reports the rapper was released from ICU earlier this week and has been ordered to rest for another month at home.
