Eighteen-year-old Alaina Housley was attending the Borderline Bar & Grill with friends from Pepperdine University on November 6 when a gunman opened fire, killing 12 people.
Throughout the day yesterday (November 8), Mowry-Housley took to social media, looking for information on the whereabouts of her niece. One of Housley's suitemates posted photos and a description of her when she was still missing after news of the shooting broke.
Ashely this is her aunt Tamera Mowry Housley. Can you please DM me your information?— Tamera Mowry-Housley (@TameraMowryTwo) November 8, 2018
Do you know what hospitals she could be at?— Tamera Mowry-Housley (@TameraMowryTwo) November 8, 2018
We haven't found her yet. It's been 7 hrs since the shooting.— Tamera Mowry-Housley (@TameraMowryTwo) November 8, 2018
Sadly, the 18-year-old Housley was confirmed dead last night. Mowry-Housley's husband, journalist Adam Housley, shared a statement from his brother's family.
My brother Arik and his wife Hannah and my nephew Alex are some of the best people you'll ever meet. They and Alaina are some of the most generous people in the world...and love their Napa community. This is from them.... pic.twitter.com/y2kyFKfnoO— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) November 9, 2018
Mowry-Housley has since paid tribute to her niece on Instagram, reminiscing about memories shared.
Alaina. My sweet, sweet Alaina. My heart breaks. I'm still in disbelief. It's not fair how you were taken and how soon you were taken from us. I was blessed to know you ever since you were 5. You stole my heart. I will miss our inside jokes, us serenading at the piano. Thank you for being patient with me learning how to braid your hair, and I will never forget our duet singing the national anthem at Napa's soccer game. I love you. I love you. I love you. You are gonna make one gorgeous angel. My heart and prayers are with every victim of this tragedy.
Mowry-Housley's sister and former Sister Sister co-star Tia Mowry has also paid tribute to her twin sister's niece.
