Published Jan 31, 2017It may or may not be accurate, but Keanu Reeves's endlessly badass John Wick movie (and the trailer for its sequel) inspires a special sort of hyperbole. As you watch him stoically beat the shit out of hordes of baddies, you'll be convinced you're watching the best movie you've ever seen. So why not turn it into a TV show?
Speaking with /Film, co-director Chad Stahelski said he's interested in exploring John Wick's origin story in a prequel. Rather than make it a third film, the hope is to turn it into a television series.
"We basically almost have a prequel written but we'd save that for other aspects of the property," he said. "Lionsgate is very interested in doing a John Wick TV show, and that seems very appealing to us, to give those creative ideas to that entity, because I think in TV you could really expand on what that is and greater than we could in just a two-hour film. We'd like to wrap up the story we're telling now and maybe save all our prequel ideas and impossible task ideas for that medium."
Provided John Wick: Chapter 2 does well when it opens on February 10, we won't be surprised if this series is greenlit.
